Root Chakra, Orientation To Self
The Universe.
This article is about the orientation to self. This is a very important step to understanding who you really are. If you have ever questioned “who am I really” or better still “How do I tick” this will give you some insight. Once you start to understand the Chakra system, you start to understand cause and effect.
As we move through the Chakras one by one we will be talking about what they represent. Always be aware of what you are thinking when we journey through each Chakra. The unconscious mind will use every tool available to try and awaken your inner self in the hope you will recognise a truth inside you.
We are all very good at putting things away so as to not have to deal with trauma, hurt, pain, and anything that makes us feel uncomfortable. When something comes along that your inner self recognises and it knows that it needs to be looked at, it will usually throw you a home run.
The secret then is to listen to that feeling/emotion and bring it out onto the table and deal with it once and for-all.

Home Run.
First Chakra
Root = Self Preservation, physical vitality and grounding, the Orientation to Self.
The root Chakra as you know is at the base of your spine. It is RED in colour and relates to survival, stability, acceptance, self-preservation, deep-rootedness, perception, grounding, fear and safety. Connection with divine.
This is the Chakra that is at the root of your being and establishes the deepest connections with your physical body, your environment and with the Earth. It keeps you grounded, and keeps you thinking clearly.
All of the seven Chakras are important and interconnected with each other, balancing one Chakra will create change in another Chakra, so when dealing with a crisis, you are having an effect on the whole Chakra system.
Understanding the Root Chakra helps you to understand what is important to you, it helps you to understand how you deal with your problems, it does this by making you first find your happy place, the place you feel comfortable, the place you go when you want the world to go away, the place that grounds you.
The Root Chakra must be open and rotating in order for you to feel in perfect balance. It enables you to be assertive, make good choices and make speedy decisions.
This Chakra determines self – preservation.
It helps you survive, learning from past experiences, it enables you to be anchored. It clears your perception, gives you strength, courage and stamina.
It is your life line for moving ahead, your feet must be on the ground in order for you to step forward.

Imagine a tree.
The roots ground the tree into the soil, it is strong, sturdy, and powerful, the soil gives the tree nourishment and food through its root system…you are this tree when your root Chakra is open and rotating, you are receiving an abundance of energy as nourishment.
Just like the tree stands tall opening up towards the sun for nourishment from above, so to does your crown chakra open and receive loving energy as nourishment.
On the other hand if you are not grounded, you will lack the stability and rootedness necessary for true transformation and personal growth.
Some effects of not being grounded are:
· Indecisiveness
· Confusion
· Anxiety
· Nausea
· Spinning out
· Emotion depression
· You will feel like your head is in the air, the old say “she is a bit flighty” or “his mind is everywhere today”
· You will feel unconfident
· Unsure of yourself
· Not knowing your place in the world
Always remembering the Chakra system is a chain reaction, one affects the other.
Feeling grounded is important, for each and everyone of us there are different elements that connect us to that feeling of being.
For example when I know I need grounding I go and work in my garden, it feels fantastic, my hands in the soil connect me to myself, I feel the energy from the earth rushing in and flushing out all the blocked energy of the day.
Find out what grounds you, what makes you relax. The best way of doing this is observe yourself. What do you do when the world gets on top of you? What do you do to “Unwind”? You will find your answer in that moment
Healing and unfolding of our true nature occurs on many levels.
Everything you do on this journey is part of the natural unfoldment process. We learn to trust this process, we lean to believe in the Orientation to Self.
Our soul already knows who we are, we just need to tune into what is truth.
Remember male and female Chakra spin in the opposite direction.
Root Chakra Male spins clockwise, Female spins Anti Clockwise.
When visualising your Root Chakra imagine a vortex of Red spinning light going down to the ground from in between your legs. Like a funnel the vortex gets bigger and penetrates the ground, sending roots into the earth. Feel the connection, feel the rush of energy as you become totally grounded, you can feel your shoulders relax like there is a magnet pulling your whole being into alignment.
When you know how to do all your Chakras comfortably, you can also reverse the process and imagine a vortex of Red light coming up from the earth and entering your Root Chakra, you feel the energy grab you and pull you down to reality.
